Prof. Paul CW Davies (Sydney)
Along with
Stephen Hawking and Brian Green, Paul Davies is the
scientist best known around the world by the general
public. His books have sold tens of millions of copies,
and he has appeared widely on TV. Davies is by training a
cosmologist, but in recent years he has also branched out
into questions of astrobiology, and the origin of life
and other 'emergent properties' of physical systems. He
has also written on the connections between science and
religion.
Davies will give a public lecture on the origin of life, with particular attention to its possible origin on Mars.
