The Conceptual Development of Quantum Physics - I Seven Pines Symposium XVII May 15-19, 2013 About Talks & material Participants Photos Presented talks are now online. |
Sponsored by: | The 7 Pines meeting this year was on the history of Quantum Mechanics. It will be the first of 2 meetings devoted to this topic - the second one will be in 2014. This meeting focused on the early history of quantum mechanics, both the key formal and interpretational developments in the period from 1920-1940, and on the later interpretational developments in the period from the 1950's to the 1970's (hidden variable theories, Bell's theorem, etc.). The early history of entanglement was also discussed, up the first experimental tests of Bell's inequalities. Finally, the early history of quantum field theory was discussed, both in particle physics and condensed matter physics. |
